Problem resolved. The POP is enabled is the key at the Gmail email settings.

Our school uses Google Workspace Plus for Education (equal to the Enterprise version) . We don't have the Confirmation Code box, and the "Verify" button

I don't see the Confirmation Box when configuring a single user email account. Though, I received the code in the email inbox.
