How to take a screenshot on Windows

1. Manually capture your screen

  1. Press Windows key + Shift + S on your keyboard to capture a specific area.
  2. A notification will appear in the bottom-right corner confirming the capture. Click the notification to open the Snipping Tool and annotate your screenshot.
  3. Save the screenshot in your desired folder or share it directly by copying the capture.

While effective for basic screenshots, these steps lack advanced editing and sharing features. This might limit your screenshot’s usability for error documentation or detailed user guides.

2. Use Loom to capture your screenshot

  1. Open Loom’s desktop app or Chrome extension and click the camera icon next to the video icon to access the screenshot tool.
  2. Choose your screenshot type by selecting either Custom area or Current tab and then click Select area to proceed with capturing your Windows screenshot.
  3. In the Loom’s screenshot editor, you can click Edit image to annotate your screenshot with text, shapes, or arrows to highlight key points.
